Kevin Hill is a long-time educator (high school teacher, assistant principal, principal, and professor of education at NC State) who is running for re-election for Wake County Board of Elections this November 8th.
What hangs in the balance?
The fate of 143,289 students.
In 2009, multimillionaire retailer Art Pope and the infamous Civitas Action (his corporate machine using the profits of Variety Wholesalers, created out the post Citizens United world) bankrolled the campaigns of Tea Party Republicans to oust the existing school board. The goal? Eliminate the socioeconomic diversity policy and force students into neighborhood schools, creating hubs of poverty where students have few opportunities. The corporate-funded radicals won the school board in 09. On 10/11/11 Wake county voters headed the polls again, and now the school board is going to be decided by a single run-off election between student advocate Kevin Hill and citivas-supported Heather Losurdo.
